Kali Puja 2020

With support from the community and members of Puja Samithi of Greater Houston, we are in the fifth year of our celebration. This unique year riddled with COVID-19, we are hosting Kali Puja virtually and we want you to join us with your friends and family and be part of the festivities. Dr. Bishnupada Goswami will perform the Puja. We are growing and want you to be involved in our activities by becoming a member.

This year, Durga Puja was very successful with our new idols from India and we had great attendance from online devotees to watch the puja being live broadcast via YouTube. More than 500 people joined to watch the Puja celebration online.

Please note: This year, we are only allowing volunteers on-site for helping with the Puja. No other visitors will be allowed to enter the premises. Please cooperate with us to have a successful Puja – thanks for your support in this matter.

Letter from the President

Dear Devotees,

On behalf of the Puja Samithi of Greater Houston (PSGH), I welcome you to our fifth year of Durga and Kali Puja religious ceremonies and cultural celebrations! This year due to the unprecedented COVID-19 situation gripping the entire world and for everyone’s health and safety, our Pujas will be all virtual and live streamed for you to view from the comfort of your homes and to take the blessings of these auspicious Pujas. Houston’s most venerable Dr. Bishnupada Goswami, Chief Priest, renowned around the world for his powerful oration of the Durga and Kali stotras, will conduct these Pujas for the worship of Ma Durga and Ma Kali, and for all of us to receive the blessings. We thank Dr. Goswami for his wonderful service to the community through all the Pujas that he conducts and from which we receive spiritual upliftment.

This year is also special because Dr. Goswami will be spiritually inaugurating or performing the Prana Pratishta ceremony for our beautiful new Murthis, hand crafted in Kolkata and shipped to Houston. We thank the families involved with this year-long effort for their persistence and perseverance to make this happen during a most difficult period and for the benefit of the entire community. We sincerely thank all of our members, volunteers and well-wishers for their ongoing dedication, devotion and tremendous support towards making these Pujas a wonderful success.

Therefore, my humble request to everyone is to please view our celebration of this year’s Durga and Kali Pujas online. Please register on our website and check back daily during the Pujas to receive the YouTube link for the live broadcast. Starting at 8 pm on Friday October 23rd and Saturday October 24th, we will virtually present a wonderful medley of artists from Kolkata and from the local community who will perform a memorable Mahalaya rendition, cultural songs and dances! As always, your generous contributions are highly appreciated and helps us to be a success.

May Ma Durga and Ma Kali Bless all of us and usher in a new era of health and prosperity!

Best Wishes,
Amit Banerjee
